Safe Kids and State Farm have joined forces to launch the Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Program, dedicated to increasing access to child passenger safety education and resources for families.
Safe Kids in Statesville will host a Good Neighbor Car Seat Checkup on Thursday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Iredell County Public Library, located at 201 N. Tradd Street in Statesville.
This free event is open to the public and offers the opportunity for parents and caregivers to receive hands-on assistance from certified child passenger safety technicians to ensure the proper installation and usage of car seats and booster seats.
Motor vehicle crashes are one of the leading causes of death for children ages 1-12 in the U.S. In 2022 alone, one in four children under age 13 who lost their lives in car crashes were unrestrained, and more than half of all child car seats are misused, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
