N.C. Sen. Vickie Sawyer has been appointed by Senate Leader Phil Berger to serve on four important legislative oversight committees for the 2025-2026 interim period.

Sawyer, a Republican who represents Iredell County and North Mecklenburg, will serve as:
● Vice Chair of the Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee;
● Member of the Joint Legislative Economic Development & Global Engagement Oversight Committee;
● Member of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health & Human Services; and
● Member of the Revenue Laws Study Committee
“These committees will be studying issues that directly impact families, communities, and businesses across North Carolina,” said Sawyer. “I’m committed to bringing the priorities of my district to the table — strengthening our infrastructure, supporting health care access, and ensuring responsible use of taxpayer dollars.”
Joint legislative committees are made up of members from both the Senate and the House of Representatives, with each chamber selecting a co-chair from its membership.
“As we prepare for next year’s legislative session, these committees will get to work examining the most pressing issues facing our state,” Berger said. “I look forward to seeing what proposals the committees pursue and working with the members to usher their priorities over the finish line.”
I think it’s time to do away with this NC vehicle inspections. This is a waste of time and money for the people of North Carolina. Once a year every year for however long you have owned a vehicle you pay your taxes, you pay your sticker, and you pay the inspectors. They take your vehicle behind closed doors and you can’t see what they’re doing. It may pass or it may not. It is up to the mechanics if something is wrong. This is not right.
Maybe she can do her primary job, which is to pass a budget.
