The Board of Directors and staff of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Western Piedmont NC invite the community to the 3rd Annual Share-a-Meal Fundraiser to support the Good News Clubs that serve local elementary and middle school throughout Iredell County and five neighboring counties.

This year’s event has expanded to include activities over three days:

♦ Day 1: On Friday, August 22, the annual BBQ chicken luncheon will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meals are being prepared by Cooking-for-Christ Ministry on the campus of Fairview Baptist Church. Plates are $15 each. Volunteers will deliver boxed lunches of delicious smoked BBQ and all the trimmings to any location that orders 10 or more meals. Beulah Baptist Church is purchasing meals for all the public school employees in their community as a way of showing their support and appreciation for the teachers and staff at each school. These schools include Celeste Henkel Elementary, Sharon Elementary, Scotts Elementary, West Middle and West High School. .

“We want to challenge other churches and businesses countywide to sponsor the schools in their area with a meal of appreciation while supporting the ministry of Good News Clubs,” said Jeff Tucker, volunteer Board Member of Child Evangelism Fellowship

♦ Day 2: On Saturday, August 23, all Good New Club members, guests, and parents are invited to attend a day of games, activities, and crafts from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church. This event is the kick off for all the Good News Clubs for the 2025-2026 school year. Grill-4-God Ministries will be on hand to prepare and serve hot dogs for attendees.

“Our goal for this event is to bring children and parents together with their teachers from the many Good News Clubs across the county,” said Lois Pemberton, executive director of Child Evangelism. “What an exciting and fun way to kick off a new school year and begin this year’s journey of faith with fun, food, and fellowship.”

There is no cost to attend this event.

Day 3: On Sunday morning, August 24, pastors from local churches countywide are being asked to allow a short presentation about the history and impact that Good News Clubs are having on the children in our community during the morning worship service. Following the brief presentation, a love offering for Good News Clubs will be received.

Good News Clubs began serving children in Iredell County in 2009 with the founding of the first club at Cool Spring Elementary School.

Today, volunteer Bible teachers from Good News Club serve over 1,400 children each week in public schools and at community-based sites throughout Iredell County. In addition, the ministry has expanded to Alexander, Caldwell, Catawba, and Rowan counties.

“Good News Clubs are taking the message of the Gospel to thousands of children across our community each week,” shared Brady Johnson, retired superintendent of Iredell-Statesville Schools and volunteer board member of Child Evangelism Fellowship. “Many of the children we serve do not attend church. This message of love, forgiveness, compassion, and kindness is critical to developing young people who understand that these Judeo-Christian values are the foundation of our American society and way of life. Please consider supporting this impactful ministry that is offered freely to all children in our public schools.”
