With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charles Edson King, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. Born on October 7, 1960, in Warwick, R.I., Charles departed this life on July 20, 2025, in Statesville, N.C., at the age of 64.

Charles dedicated his career to working as a machinist at Corning Optical Communications, where his expertise and commitment were evident every day. He exemplified hard work and integrity, qualities that resonated through both his professional and personal life.

He proudly served his country as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, embodying honor and dedication. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church, where he found joy in fellowship and service.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wilfred King. He is survived by his loving wife, Aurea Rosendal King, who was his faithful companion and dearest friend. He leaves behind his cherished children, daughter Karen M. Long and her husband John Clifton “Cliff”, and son Christopher King and his partner Kristy Ballard. His mother, Shirley King, survives him, as do his five beloved grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into his life.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30 a.m. Both will be held at Western Avenue Baptist Church, located at 1206 Museum Road, Statesville, NC 28625.

In remembering Charles, we celebrate a life filled with love, service, and dedication. His legacy of strength and kindness will forever live in the memories of those who knew him.
