Jonathan Reeves

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Jonathan Clinton Reeves, 22, of Cartwright Road, Harmony, in a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation on February 21 after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children related to 27 electronic files containing suspected child sexual abuse material, Sheriff Darren Campbell said.

The case was immediately assigned to Special Victims Unit Detective Lane, who secured a search warrant for the suspect’s Dropbox account, the platform identified in the tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

After executing the warrant, detectives conducted forensic analysis on electronic devices, reviewed digital evidence, and traced the suspect’s online activity, Campbell said. After compiling all of the evidence, Detective Lane obtained a warrant for Reeves’ arrest on 10 counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

ICSO Warrant Service Unit Deputy Robbins located Reeves on September 4 and took him into custody. Following his arrest, Reeves was transported to the Special Victims Unit, where he was interviewed by Detective Lane and provided a full confession, according to the news release.

Reeves was then transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate M. Nethken issued a $100,000 bond.

This investigation remains active. Additional charges are expected, Campbell said.
