A Love Valley resident faces several felony charges, including trafficking in methamphetamine, after being stopped by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy on Wilkesboro Highway.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Susan Carol Montgomery, 56, of 109 Filly Trail in a news release on Monday.
Deputy J. Lee observed Montgomery driving a Dodge Ram truck along Wilkesboro Highway on October 30, Campbell said. Knowing that Montgomery did not have a valid driver’s license, the deputy conducted a traffic stop near Wilkesboro Highway and Bowles Farm Road.
During the stop, Deputy Lee suspected that Montgomery may have been transporting illegal drugs, according to the news release. After Deputy G. Deal and his K9 partner Aida arrived at the scene to assist, Aida indicated for the presence of drugs inside the truck, Campbell said.
When deputies conducted a probable cause search, they found approximately 66.7 grams of methamphetamine, 2.49 grams of heroin, nine Xanax pills, several drug pipes, and a digital scale hidden inside the truck, according to the news release.
Montgomery was taken into custody and charged with Felony Trafficking Methamphetamine, Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Maintaining a Dwelling or Vehicle for a Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance and Misdemeanor Simple Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance.
She was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Watkins ordered her held without bond due to outstanding charges.
