A Statesville man faces several drug charges following a traffic stop by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of John Antonio Ikard, 41, of Lakeview Drive Statesville, in a news release Tuesday.
Deputy G.W. Wiedenmann, who is assigned to the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of Sullivan Road about 2 a.m. on Sunday, August 31, Campbell said. During the encounter, Deputy Wiedenmann observed indicators of possible criminal activity, which led to both the driver and passenger being asked to exit the vehicle so it could be searched, according to the news release.
The passenger, Ikard, was found to be in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine, Campbell said.
He was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and three misdemeanor drug offenses.
Magistrate Johnson issued a $7,500 secured bond.
