A suspect has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Reginald Scott Brown, 38, of East 2nd Street, Kannapolis, in a news release on Wednesday.
Deputies began investigating on March 10 after responding to a home of East Memorial Highway in Harmony for a report of vehicle theft, the sheriff said.
The homeowner reported that the vehicle was stolen from the driveway while the homeowner was out of town. Deputies completed an incident report, and the vehicle was entered as stolen into the national database, according to the news release.
The case was assigned to Detective E. McNeely for a follow-up investigation.
On April 14, Detective McNeely discovered that the stolen vehicle had been located in the parking lot of Mocksville business, where it had been towed and was being stored at a local wrecker service facility.
Detective McNeely responded to the location and searched the vehicle for evidence left behind by the individual who stole it.
During the investigation, Detective McNeely recovered evidence that identified Brown as a suspect. The detective obtained a warrant for Brown’s arrest on a charge of Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.
Brown was quickly located and arrested. He is being held at the Iredell County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
