A Charlotte man faces more than a dozen criminal charges after Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a larceny in progress at a business on Turnersburg Highway.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Jarvis Hamilton Edwards Jr., 34, of Lodestone Road, Charlotte, in a news release.
ICSO deputies responded to A&A Auto Sales just after midnight on August 25 and detained Edwards, who was operating a lawnmower, Campbell said. During the ensuing investigation, deputies discovered that security cables securing multiple lawnmowers had been cut, according to the news release.
Edwards was found in possession of a trailer containing three additional lawnmowers, Campbell said. The business owner arrived on scene and confirmed that no one had permission to be on the property.
Further investigation revealed that a second male suspect had fled the scene before deputies arrived and remains unidentified, the sheriff added.
Deputies also determined that both the truck and trailer in Edwards’ possession had been reported stolen in Mecklenburg County. Edwards was found to be in possession of a firearm and burglary tools, according to the news release.
Edwards was arrested and charged with three counts of felony larceny, felony attempted larceny, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony possession of burglary tools, three counts of misdemeanor injury to personal property and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon.
The suspect was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was issued no bond on the charges.
