Two men face felony charges in connection with an incident in which fireworks were shot at occupied home on Buffalo Shoals Road from a moving vehicle.

Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Randall Chance Millsaps, 23, of Hiddenite, and Dalton Wayne McAlister, 21, of Troutman in a news release posted on social media.

ICSO Deputy A. Leggett responded to a call about the incident on Saturday, July 5, Campbell said.

Other deputies converged on the area and began actively searching for the vehicle described by the caller.

Meanwhile, the victims, who were outside the residence at the time of the incident, told Deputy Leggett that they were familiar with the individuals involved, according to the news release.

Deputies also obtained surveillance footage that captured the incident, Campbell said. In the video, a vehicle is seen traveling down Buffalo Shoals Road while launching Flaming Ball Fireworks from inside the car directly toward the residence, according to the news release. One of the fireworks struck the roof and exploded, sending sparks onto the house and the surrounding area, resulting in property damage.

The footage also shows sparks coming from the passenger-side window as the vehicle passes by, according to the news release.

A short time after receiving a description of the suspect vehicle, ICSO Sgt. D. Souther located the vehicle on Spicewood Circle and conducted a traffic stop.

Millsaps was identified as the driver and the front passenger was identified as McAlister. A female passenger was also present in the vehicle.

While speaking with the occupants, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle, Campbell said. The search led to the discovery of fireworks, a launching tube, and an open container of an alcoholic beverage, according to the news release.

Based on statements from the victims, video evidence, and items recovered from the vehicle, all three occupants were taken into custody.

McAlister was charged with felony damage to occupied property with explosives; felony conspiracy; and misdemeanor possession of pyrotechnics.

Millsaps was charged with felony conspiracy; misdemeanor possession of pyrotechnics; and misdemeanor underage aid/abet possess alcohol.

Magistrate J. Hollar issued McAlister a $125,000 secured bond and Millsaps a $50,000 secured bond.

The female was charged with misdemeanor underage drinking and released on an unsecured bond.
