Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of John Harry Mueller, 39, and Megan Grace Stackable, 26, both of Nebo, in a news release.

On Saturday, deputies assigned to the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team received information from the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office regarding possible illegal activity involving a vehicle believed to be traveling through Iredell County on Salisbury Highway toward Rowan County, Campbell said.

Deputy C. Moncus and Deputy J. Greene responded to the area and began monitoring traffic. Shortly thereafter, deputies located the vehicle on Salisbury Highway and conducted a traffic stop.

Deputies then observed several indicators of criminal activity, and the vehicle’s owner granted consent to search the vehicle, according to the news release.

During the search, deputies located approximately 22 grams of methamphetamine, 26 grams of fentanyl, a large quantity of cash, and a handgun concealed inside the vehicle, Campbell said. All of the items were seized.

Mueller and Megan Stackable were taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where they were charged with Felony Trafficking Fentanyl by Possession, Felony Trafficking Fentanyl by Transport, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine, and Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for a Controlled Substance.

A magistrate ordered the suspects held without bond pending a court appearance.
