The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office has identified the individual involved in Monday’s deputy-involved shooting incident in Harmony.
Daniel Glenn Brown, 33, of Harmony was shot by a deputy after Brown approached the Family Dollar store armed with an “edged weapon,” Sheriff Darren Campbell said.
Brown was transported to Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem in stable condition.
The Sheriff’s Office has obtained an arrest warrant charging Brown with felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government official. The warrant will be served on Brown when he is discharged from medical care, according to an ICSO news release.
The deputy, whose name has not been released, was place on paid leave pending an administrative review of the shooting, which is standard procedure. At the request of Sheriff Campbell, the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation is also investigating the shooting.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
