Sisters Jamie Beecham and Kristen Mayle have developed a passion for comforting cancer survivors since their mother passed away in 2014.

The two started by making colorful caps and other accessories for cancer survivors.

As what would have been their mother’s 70th birthday was approaching, the sisters decided to pay tribute to Sheila Braniff in a special way.

That’s when the Day of Sass was born.

A Day of Sass offers women going through cancer an opportunity to to be pampered and fawned over with massages, manicures, hair styling and facials. For at least for one day, they can put cancer on the back burner.

This year’s Day of Sass will be held on October 7 at the Fields at Skycrest on Triplett Road.

As with past events, many hair stylists, manicurists, massage therapists and others have signed on to provide their services free of charge.

Now the sisters are looking for nominations for women to be treated this October.

Anyone wishing to nominate a woman for the event can do online at https://www.sassycaps.org/events.
