A Statesville man wanted in connection with the shooting death of Timmy Jaurice Moore was taken into custody by Statesville Police Department officers on Saturday.

The SPD announced the arrest of Austin Ty’Kim “Kimbe” Morrison, 23, of Hall Drive, Statesville, in a news release Monday afternoon. He is charged with murdering Moore, who was fatally wounded on June 14 on Deaton Street.
Morrison was apprehended by officers about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Officers assigned to the SPD Traffic Unit observed a vehicle being driven erratically in the area of Inglewood Road and Grove Road, according to the news release.
When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver failed to yield and fled from law enforcement, driving off road through residential backyards, police said. After a brief vehicle pursuit, the driver — subsequently identified as Morrison — abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended.
Morrison was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and served with the outstanding murder warrant. He was ordered held without bond on that charge.
As a result of Saturday’s incident, he was also charged with larceny of a motor vehicle; felony flee to elude arrest; resist, obstruct, and delay an officer; possession of marijuana, and multiple traffic violations
The SPD investigation of Timmy Moore’s death is ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406.
