Special to IFN

On Saturday, September 27, Students for a Cure LKN hosted a pickleball tournament at Trump National Golf Course, raising $1,915 to support Susan G. Komen’s upcoming More Than Pink Walk. The event brought together community members for a round-robin style competition led by Trump professional Jenny, combining fun and fitness with a meaningful cause.  Dave Richardson and Troy Garrison took home the trophy.

The student-led group, based at Lake Norman High School, is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research and support programs.

Twenty students are actively involved in the effort, including captains Elizabeth Montgomery, Elliot Gordon, and Brooke White, along with Addie Flora, Mattie Monroe, Ainsley Kiser, Cali Corcoran, Cora Montgomery, Gracie Caminiti, Isabella Self, Isabelle O’Donnell, Jack Doremus, Jocelyn Carroll, Krista Conley, Madi Mox, Megan Metz, Rees Cooper, Stormy Welch, Sydney Ahlers, and Sydney Hall.

To date, Students for a Cure LKN has raised $9,132.75 of their $10,000 fundraising goal. The team will join hundreds of participants at the More Than Pink Walk on October 11 to continue their mission of supporting those affected by breast cancer.

Community members who would like to join the team or contribute to their efforts can visit Susan G. Komen Charlotte Walk – Students for a Cure LKN.
