Special to IFN

The Town of Mooresville has increased the number of vacuum trucks for leaf collection on scheduled collection days. Over the coming weeks, crews will pick up leaves in addition to normal garbage, recycling, and yard waste.

To make the leaf collection process as efficient as possible, please remember:

♦ Do not bag leaves;
♦ Do not mix leaves with brush or other debris. The Town does not pick up mulch, dirt, and rocks;
♦ Do not park in front of or within three feet of leaf piles;
♦ Do not place leaves near storm drains. The loose leaves may clog up the storm drain and, in turn, flood the streets; and
♦ Keep leaf piles three feet from other objects, including garbage or recycling cans and mailboxes.

Residents should have leaves ready to pick up by 6 a.m. on their normal yard waste collection day. Due to scheduling during leaf season, crews cannot go back to pick up piles put out behind them. The large volume of leaves to be collected may cause delays in service. However, crews will ensure all residences are serviced as quickly as possible.
