The Troutman Police Department reported the following felony arrests:

Brandon Brooks

A Troutman man faces drug charges after being stopped by a TPD officer in the 1000 block of Charlotte Highway on May 29.

After a police canine gave a positive indication for the presence of the odor of narcotics, officers searched the vehicle and found fentanyl in a container inside the vehicle, according to a TPD news release.

Brandon Scott Brooks, 29, was arrested for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brooks was taken before a magistrate, where he was ordered held without bond due to being out on bond after being charged with possession of fentanyl on May 21, police said.

James Branch

A Gastonia man faces drug charges after being stopped by a TPD officer for an expired vehicle registration on Charlotte Highway near the intersection with Flower House Loop on May 29

While speaking with an officer, James David Branch, 41, gave consent for officers to search the vehicle, according to a TPD news release. During the search, officers located methamphetamine in the vehicle, police said.

Branch was arrested for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was taken before a magistrate, who ordered held without bond because he was out on bond on an earlier charge.

Brien Moore

A man faces gun charges after being stopped by a TPD officer for a moving violation. Brien Moore, 35, address unknown, was stopped on Charlotte Highway for a moving violation on May 28.

During the stop, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle, according to a TPD news release. During this search, officers located a concealed Ruger pistol that was reported stolen in Gaston County, N.C., police said.

Moore was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed handgun. Moore was taken before a magistrate, where he received a $7,500 secured bond.
