Mooresville Fire-Rescue and Shepherds Fire Department personnel, along with Mooresville police officers, responded to a tractor-trailer crash on Cornelius Road near Indian Springs Road early Thursday morning.

The driver of the tractor-trailer lost control and the vehicle partially overturned about 6:56 a.m., spilling its load of soft drinks.

The driver narrowly escaped serious injury when a utility pole ripped through the sleeper section of the cab. The pole also prevented the cab from completely overturning.

Cornelius Road was closed in both directions from Charlotte Highway to Exmore Road.
