FeedNC recently received a $75,000 grant from a long-time community partner, the Trane Technologies Charitable Foundation.
This funding will support the growth of the organization’s vital community programs, including food rescue efforts, the Building Healthy Habits children’s program, volunteerism efforts, a truck wrap for its new refrigerated box truck, and food truck programs. These programs work together to provide access to food, education, and resources for 6,000 community members in need each year, including 1,800 children.
“FeedNC appreciates the generous gift of support from Trane Technologies as it will be transformational for the families and children that receive food, education, and essentials with dignity. We are inspired by the depth of Trane Technologies’ commitment to support the community in ways that align with their values,” said Lara Ingram, FeedNC’s chief executive officer. “Trane Technologies is not only a partner in funding the innovative programs at FeedNC, but they participate actively in volunteering, offering expertise, and getting to know the families that we serve.”
FeedNC’s food rescue program partners with local restaurants, grocery stores, and other suppliers to rescue food that would have otherwise gone to landfills and redistribute it to neighbors facing food insecurity. In 2024, this program rescued over 1 million pounds of food.
These food rescue efforts are supported by a new refrigerated box truck, which was wrapped in partnership with Trane Technologies.
Building Healthy Habits provides education opportunities for children whose families participate in FeedNC’s programs, including STEM activities and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. The grant also includes support for the organization’s robust volunteerism program, which makes all of its other programs possible.
Finally, FeedNC’s innovative food truck programs bring nutritious food directly to children and families at risk of food insecurity in their own neighborhoods, eliminating transportation barriers and serving more neighbors in need.
