The Troutman ABC Board, represented by Store Manager Evelyn Coleman, reported to the Troutman Town Council on Thursday night that the store experienced a 6.24 percent increase in sales in 2024-2025 compared to the previous fiscal year.
Sales reached $3,539,274 compared to last year’s sales of $3,331,412, an increase of just under $208,000.
Troutman ABC Board Chair Layton Getsinger had projected a $209,282 in profit for 2024-2025, but the store exceeded expectations, earning a $421,666 profit.
“Overall, the ABC Commission statewide experienced a downturn in sales for the fourth quarter with a few exceptions,” said Coleman. “The Town of Troutman ABC Board was one of those exceptions. We experienced a sales increase of 3.47 percent over last year’s fourth-quarter.”
Coleman noted that sales in the fourth quarter were declining in Troutman as well, with April up 6.9% over April of last year, May up 2.8%, and June up only 1%.
The annual distributions for the 2024-2025 fiscal year included $49,723 to the Town of Troutman and $12,430.75 each to the town’s designated entities: the Troutman Friends of the Library, ESC Park, and the Troutman Parks and Recreation Department.
Troutman area Iredell-Statesville Schools (Troutman Elementary, Troutman Middle, South Iredell High, CATS) each received $3,107.69.
The Troutman Police Department received $18,012 for the law enforcement distribution. The Drug-Alcohol Coalition of Iredell County received $25,217 to provide alcohol education to Troutman and the surrounding area.
Coleman reported that the store has met its working capital goal of $642,855, the maximum allowed by the N.C. ABC Commission. The store has also saved $342,332 in a Special Capital Project Fund for a future store planned near the southern entrance of Flower House Loop on Highway 21.
The store’s total cash and inventory value sits at $985,187.
Troutman outperformed the rest of the state? I guess the residents had more reasons to drown their sorrows last year.
The increase in alcohol consumption may be due to the influx of residents from the Northeast. They do like their liquor.
