Troutman Police, Troutman Fire Rescue and Iredell County EMS personnel responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Skylar View Lane in Troutman about 9:40 p.m. on Friday.

While responding, the units were advised of additional reports of a car on its roof with a person trapped inside. The vehicle was located in a ravine located off West Crosstie Lane.

Troutman firefighters stabilized the car with struts and crews used hydraulic tools and air bags to extricate the driver.

A Medi-Vac Helicopter from Novant Air link responded to transport the injured driver. The driver was transported by Iredell County EMS to a field next to the Bojangles off Charlotte Highway, where the helicopter was waiting.

Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies shut down Charlotte Highway in both directions until the helicopter was in the air. Firefighters and EMS assisted loading the patient onto the helicopter, which transported the patient to a hospital in Charlotte.

Troutman Police are investigating the accident.
