Viera, who has served in this role since 2018, informed chamber members of her decision to step down in an email message.

“It has been an incredible honor to serve alongside such a dedicated team and amazing members like you,” she wrote. “Together, we’ve accomplished so much – from navigating the challenges of COVID to transforming our programs and services. I’m particularly proud of how we’ve enhanced member value through industry-specific programming, expanded our partnerships with organizations like Iredell Ready and Mitchell Community College, and grew Leadership Statesville into an annual program that’s developing community leaders every year.”

Chamber members, she said, have built a strong foundation together, forged relationships and done important advocacy work that will serve local businesses going forward.

She expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to lead the chamber and for the members’ commitment to Statesville.

“I look forward to watching the chamber continue to grow and evolve from my new role as a proud community member,” said Viera, noting that she plans to remain in the Statesville area.

Board Chairman Ron Matthews said in a news release that “the board and our community are grateful for Shannon’s leadership over the past six years and wish her the very best.”

Lisa Meier and Beth Packman have stepped up and agreed to lead the Chamber’s day-to-day operations until a new president is in place.

“With their experience in Chamber leadership and their combined business acumen, we know the best is yet to come for the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce,” Matthews said.
