The community is invited to attend the 31st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast & Celebration will be held Monday, January 19, at 7 a.m. at the Statesville Event Center.
Doors will open at 6 a.m. There is no cost for the event, but seating is limited.
The theme for this year’s event is “I Can Make a Difference.”
The speaker for the event will be Minister Chris “YP” Thomas, a motivational speaker and life coach from Statesville.
A 20023 graduate of Statesville High School, he was a scholarship athlete at Winston-Salem State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications in 2008. With over 12 years of experience in public speaking, Thomas has inspired and empowered thousands of individuals across high schools, HBCUs, universities, nonprofit organizations, Fortune 500 companies, faith-based institutions, and small to mid-sized businesses nationwide.
MLK Concert
The 2026 MLK Community Choir Concert will be held Sunday, January 18, at 4 p.m. at Landmark Church of God, located at 2200 East Broad Street.
