The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) Board approved $25.86 million in funding for transportation projects during its meeting on February 18. These funds support 16 projects across 10 CRTPO member jurisdictions in Iredell, Mecklenburg and Union counties.

As the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Charlotte urban area, CRTPO oversees long-range transportation planning and ensures that Federal Highway Administration transportation funds are allocated and spent appropriately. In collaboration with the N.C. Department of Transportation, CRTPO allocates federal discretionary funds to help jurisdictions implement transportation projects, programs, and studies that may otherwise lack funding.

Nearly $13 million was awarded for four projects in Iredell County, including:

♦ $750,000 for the Town of Mooresville’s Silicon Shores East-West Connector Road project;
♦ $8,795,150 for the Town of Mooresville’s Talbert Road Widening project;
♦ $2,314,136 for the Town of Mooresville’s Terrace Road Sidewalk project; and
♦ $176,000 for the City of Statesville’s Microtransit Feasibility Study
