The District Attorney’s Office has dismissed a criminal charge against a Troutman Town Council member in Iredell County District Court.

Nicholas Jaroszynski, 40, was charged with resisting an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy who responded to assist with a reported road rage incident in Troutman in February 2025.
The councilman was arrested on February 12, 2025, following a traffic traffic stop. A Troutman police officer stopped Jaroszynski after receiving a report that the driver of an SUV was driving recklessly and waving what appeared to be a handgun out of the window. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Jaroszynski refused to comply with an officer’s instructions to step out of his vehicle and pulled away from the officer, which led to his arrest.
The misdemeanor charge was dismissed on March 17 after Jaroszynski completed 24 hours of community service as part of an informal conditional discharge agreement with the District Attorney’s Office.
Pending case in Craven County
Jaroszynski has pending charges in Craven County. He is scheduled to appear in District Court in New Bern on April 27 in connection with a traffic stop that occurred on 7:55 a.m. on October 17, 2025.
A N.C. Highway Patrol trooper issued Jaroszynski a citation for making an illegal right turn and operating a motor vehicle “without due caution and circumspection and at a speed or manner so as to endanger persons and property,” following the traffic stop.
According to court records, the trooper reported a strong smell of a controlled substance emanating from Jaroszynski’s Mercedes Benz SUV.
Driver “has all 4 windows down in 48 degree morning,” Trooper J.A. Magana noted in his report. “Says he smoked at 4AM in the vehicle – Troutman is 4 (hours) from (New Bern) – Says what he had was legal Deltah – smells like fresh 90-95.”
N.C. General Statute § 90-95 is the primary law defining violations and penalties for the manufacture, sale, delivery, and possession of controlled substances.
Jaroszynski, who was a previous DWI conviction, was not charged with driving while impaired or possession of a controlled substance.
