Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education member Cindy Haynes has launched her campaign to continue serving as the District 3 representative.

Cindy Haynes

Haynes, who was appointed to the board in May of 2025 to fill the seat created by Abby Trent’s resignation, pledged to listen, be accessible and put classrooms first.

In her official campaign announcement, Haynes explained that her priorities are supporting students, teachers and staff while respecting parents’ role in their child’s education. She said she supports the Parents’ Bill of Rights and believes parents have a major part to play in their children’s education.

Haynes and her husband of more than 40 years, Keith, raised their three daughters in Iredell-Statesville Schools. She has worked as a school nurse for exceptional children for eight years, ensuring that student healthcare needs were met according to IEP requirements.

A Republican, she previously served on the I-SS Board of Education from 2014–2017.

The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3.
