Scouting America held a Recognition Banquet on February 13 for the Iredell Gemstone District. Bill Hicks was recognized as a 55-year Scouting veteran here in Iredell County. Bill, who proudly serves the Mt. Mourne area, has likely impacted over 1,500 scouts while helping with many events in Iredell County. He serves the Pack at Fairview United Methodist and has assisted with many Camporees over these 55 years. The local Scouting community expresses its gratitude to Bill for his many contributions.

Bill Hicks is a Legend in the Gemstone District. Every Webelo scout in Iredell County has benefited from Bill’s hard work, especially during the Camporees. He is an inspiration to all the adult volunteers as well.
Does Bill still have that blue Chevy pickup?
Yes he does!
I served with Bill in the late 70’s and early 80’s while I was on the council professional staff. He was an inspiration then and now! I’m very pleased for him.
