Special to IFN
The Historic Sharpe House, in partnership with HEARTS Collaborative, will host the 10th Annual Easter Tea and Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28. The event marks a season of “reawakening” for the historic property following the launch of significant repairs and improvements.
The Sharpe House, which has stood as a landmark in Statesville for 160 years, invites the public to experience its revitalization firsthand, with new attention to the grounds and interior.
This year’s celebration is particularly meaningful as it honors the 15-year tenure of Site Manager Keith Rhyne and the decade-long tradition of the public teas—an initiative originally credited to Heather Krumroy of Events Unlimited.
A Tradition of Elegance and Service
Guests can choose from three seatings — 11 a.m., 12:45 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. The experience features a curated menu of:
● Homemade savory tea sandwiches;
● Delicious pastries and rich indulgences; and
● Premium long-leaf black tea steeped to perfection.
In keeping with a decade of tradition, service will be provided by the famous Footmen of the Sharpe House. These young men will manage every detail, from furniture arrangement and table settings to the formal pouring of tea, maintaining the standards of the historic home of Statesville’s first family.
New Partnership for a Historic Future
This year marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration with Abigail Jennings and Randolph Lewis of HEARTS Collaborative.
“I am very pleased with the Sharpe House Board of Directors’ decision to bring HEARTS Collaborative to the table,” said Rhyne. “Their experience in maintaining historic properties ensures that the Sharpe House will continue to thrive for future generations.”
“Working with the Sharpe House to elevate this very important historic property for Statesville and Iredell County is a perfect fit for HEARTS mission to preserve, connect, share, and sustain the special places in our community,” Jennings added.
Family Fun at the Pasture Stage
Following the tea service, children ages 12 and under are invited to the Pasture Stage area for an Easter Egg Hunt. This year’s hunt is made possible through the generous support of Piedmont Folkways and the Statesville Historic Collection, which provided the eggs for the occasion.
The Historic Sharpe House is located at 402 S. Center Street in Statesville.
