The Iredell County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday night unanimously approved a request to allow a high-density commercial development on River Highway near Mooresville.

The request was to rezone 13.44 acres located at 1281 River Highway to high density to allow for the development of retail space and boat and RV storage business.

According to Planning Director Matthew Todd, under Section 8.10.2 of the Iredell County Land Development Code, any applicant is allowed to request to exceed the standard allowance of 24 percent impervious area up to a maximum of 50 percent impervious area.

The applicant wants to develop up to 50 percent impervious surfaces for a wet detention pond on the property that is designed to meet Section 10.13 for watershed stormwater control structures.

OTHERS BUSINESS

In other matters:

♦ The board approved a request to renew the lease for three years with the N.C. Department of Public Safety, Division of Juvenile Justice and authorize the County Manager to sign it. The office space is located at 211 South Center Street.

♦ County Manager Beth Milton announced vacancies on board and commissions as follows:

• Adult Care Home Advisory Committee: 6 appointments
• Centralina Aging Advisory Committee (Region F): 3 appointments
• Mooresville Board of Adjustment (ETJ): 1 appointment
• Nursing Home Advisory Committee: 6 appointments
• Troutman Planning Board (ETJ): 1 alternate appointment
• Zoning Board of Adjustment: 1 appointment

There were no special recognitions, appointments before the board or public hearings Tuesday night.

While it was a public comment meeting, there was no one there to speak for public comment.
