Mooresville Arts on Monday announced the winners of its 13th Annual Winter Juried Exhibition.

This year’s exhibit attracted 146 submissions from 80 artists. Out of the 146 entries, 66 pieces of artwork, created by 62 artists, were chosen for the exhibition. This year’s juror was Marisa Pascucci, Gallery & Collection coordinator of Davidson College.

Featured artists include Charlie Anthony, Sandie Bell, Kathleen Blackwell-Plank, Janet Borchardt, Trevor Bowman, Barbra Bryan, Cary Caldwell, Ah ra Cho, Linda Cole, Vivian Coleman, Michael Cox, Shari Crouse, Margaret Crowley, Maggie Deitsch, Pascale Doxy, Karl Dueland, Noah Farmer, Sharon Forthofer, Anne Gallagher, Sandra Gittleman, Deepa Gopinath, Leo Gordon, Maryjo Gunning, Dixon Handshaw, William Hook, Rachel Johnson Haungs, Nancy Joyce, Helen Langhorne, Miranda Leaver, Natalia Leigh, Kelly Lucarelli, Gay Marinelli, Sheryl Marinelli, Erin McGinnis, Christopher McIntosh, Amanda McLain, Andy Mooney, Joseph Moynihan, Trish O’Grady, Barbara O’Reilly, Amy Pennell, Martie Rector, Leena Rosentreter, William Rothenbach, Lucy Scott, Lorie Setterberg, Laura Sexton, James Shaver, Inna Shchehlova, Marietta Smith, Al Steinbach, Sara Tarlton, Vanessa Thorman, Vincent Trincia, Patrick Turner, Tina Vincent, Janet Visser, Janet Wade, Cecilia Wang, Jing Wang, Sarah White-Harvey, and Amy Winnicki

Accepted artwork for the Winter Juried Exhibit includes paintings, drawings, photography, pottery, glass, and mixed media work, and this show will be on display in Mooresville Arts Center and Skylight Galleries. Most of the artwork on view is for sale, and art sales directly benefit local artists and Mooresville Arts, a nonprofit organization.

Pascucci was impressed by the entries.

“Bravo! Each work is executed well and presented professional, whether framed or stretched,” she said. “By the numbers, I selected 66 works of art. My first and second viewings of the exhibition, I noted 22 works I considered for awards. After several more walk throughs, I narrowed it down to the eight award winners.”

In addition to curating this exhibit, Pascucci also selected the award winners for this show. Award winners are:

♦ 2nd Place Winner – Sinking Sleep (Paper Maché) by Tina Vincent (Charlotte)
3rd Place Winner – Davidson Lake Campus Gate to Create (Acrylic Painting) by Maryjo Gunning (Mooresville)
♦ Juror’s Choice Winner – Just Add Water (Watercolor Painting) by Al Steinbach (Mooresville)
♦ Juror’s Choice Winner – Another Reason (Acrylic Painting) by Nancy Joyce (Concord)
♦ Juror’s Choice Winner – Scratching Post (Mixed Media Painting) by James Shaver (Landis)
♦ Juror’s Choice Winner – Emergence (Acrylic Painting) by Gay Marinelli (Denver)

♦ Juror’s Choice Winner – Bathroom Break (Photography) by Karl Dueland (Mooresville)

The artists’ reception and awards ceremony was held on Friday, January 23 with many artists and patrons of the arts in attendance!

The 13th Annual Winter Juried Exhibit will be on display through Thursday, February 26.
