A Lincolnton man is charged with using an electronic communication device to solicit a minor to engage in sexual activity with a minor following an investigation by the Mooresville Police Department.

The MPD announced the arrest of Michael Wilso Lesswing, 55, in a news release Friday afternoon. He was taken into custody on Thursday.

According to police, Lesswing initiated conversation and arrange to have sexual relations with a minor at a predetermined location. He was arrested when he arrived at the location.

Lesswing was charged with Solicitation of a Child by Electronic Device and Solicitation of Prostitution of a Minor. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and placed under a $150,000 secured bond.

This case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be filed, police said.

The MPD said in the news release that it takes crimes against children seriously and remains committed to protecting the safety and well-being of youth in the community. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor their children’s online activity and report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement immediately.
