A Hamptonville man faces drug charges after Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies found methamphetamine in his vehicle during a motor vehicle checkpoint.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Dwayne Edward Stanley, 53, of Eagle Mills Road, Hamptonville, in a news release.
As the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team was conducting a checkpoint at the intersection of River Hill Road and Wooten Farm Road on March 9, Stanley approached deputies and provided an identification card and advised that his driver’s license had been revoked, Campbell said.
While speaking with Stanley, Deputy W. Wiedenmann observed behavior that raised concern, according to the news release. After a brief investigation, deputies searched the vehicle and located three small plastic bags containing crystal methamphetamine, along with a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine, Campbell said.
Stanley was placed under arrest and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he appeared before Magistrate Watkins. He received no bond on charges of Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
