A Harmony man faces drug charges after the vehicle he was traveling in was stopped by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Brian Lowell Dalton, 53, of Arrowbrook Road, Harmony, in a news release Monday.

Deputy J. Raper, who is assigned to the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team, conducted a traffic stop on a Ford F-150 on Turnersburg Highway about 6:51 p.m. Sunday.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Freddie L. Davis, 49, was issued a citation for driving while license revoked.

During the traffic stop, Deputy J. Greene responded to the scene with ICSO K-9 Elio. After a walk around the vehicle, Elio alerted to the presence of narcotics, the sheriff said. A search of the truck uncovered approximately 24.68 grams of methamphetamine and drug-related items inside the passenger area, according to the news release.

Dalton claimed the items belonged to him, according to the news release.

Dalton was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he appeared before Magistrate Russell. He received a $50,000 secured bond and faces charges, including felony possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the ICSO, the suspect’s criminal history includes the following charges: three counts of driving while impaired, misdemeanor maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, two counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor go armed to terror of people, misdemeanor reckless driving to endanger, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine, and felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
