A Mooresville man faces three misdemeanor charges in connection with a gathering involving minors where alcohol and THC products were present.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Yash Rahul Vaidya, 24, of Tennessee Circle, Mooresville, in a news release on Wednesday.
Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence at 159 Tennessee Circle about 11 p.m. on Monday, March 2. Arriving deputies heard loud music coming from the residence and began making contact with individuals inside the home, according to the news release. As deputies cleared the residence, multiple juveniles and young adults were observed exiting the property, Campbell said.
While inside the home, deputies located numerous open alcoholic beverages throughout the downstairs area and detected a strong odor of marijuana, the sheriff said. THC products and drug paraphernalia were also discovered inside the residence, according to the news release. Deputies determined that several of the individuals present were under the age of 18, and additional juveniles were identified outside the home, Campbell said.
As a result of the ICSO investigation, Vaidya was arrested and charged with three counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
In the news release, the Sheriff’s Office emphasized the serious safety concerns associated with situations involving underage drinking and drug use. These incidents place juveniles at risk and can quickly escalate into dangerous situations.
