A Mooresville man who is on probation for a felony firearms faces felony drug charges after being stopped by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy for a traffic violation of Highway 64.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Roger Glen Nichols, 58, of Nichols Lane, Mooresville, in a news release.
Deputy C. Wilson, who is assigned to the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling west along Highway 64 on Friday, March 6, Campbell said.
While speaking with Nichols, who was driving the vehicle, the deputy noticed what appeared to be crack cocaine inside the vehicle, according to the news release. That observation led to a search of the vehicle, which uncovered approximately 3.5 grams of crack cocaine, 10 grams of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia, Campbell said.
Nichols was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, Nichols was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Cocaine, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was also served with a felony probation violation warrant.
Magistrate Thompson ordered Nichols held without bond.
According to the ICSO, the suspect’s criminal history includes the following charges: four counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, two counts of Misdemeanor Trespass without a License, Misdemeanor Resist, Obstruct, or Delay a Public Officer, Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, 10 counts of Misdemeanor Simple Worthless Check, Felony Trafficking Heroin, and Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
