An eastern Iredell County man faces numerous felony charges following an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office investigation that resulted in the seizure of cocaine, psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana from his home.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Erik Brian Luhrs, 33, in a news release Tuesday.

The Sheriff’s Office opened a criminal investigation after receiving numerous complaints from residence about suspected drug activity a Luhrs home at 168 Marlow Woods Lane, the sheriff said.

On Saturday, February 7, ICSO narcotics detectives and ACE Team deputies executed a search warrant at the residence, according to the news release.

During the search, investigators seized approximately 24 grams of cocaine, 129 grams of mushrooms, and 98.46 grams of marijuana, along with U.S. currency and packaging materials commonly associated with drug trafficking, Campbell said.

Deputies also recovered multiple firearms and ammunition, as well as body armor from the residence, according to the news release.

As a convicted felon, Luhrs is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition, Campbell said.

Luhrs was arrested and charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule I controlled substance; felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance; felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule VI controlled substance; felony manufacturing marijuana and mushrooms; felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance; and felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Thompson ordered him held without bond. At the time of his arrest, Luhrs was free on bond while awaiting trial on 14 outstanding charges.
