A convicted felon faces two felony firearm charges in connection with a disturbance that occurred near Statesville over the weekend.
On Saturday, February 21, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call for service for a disturbance in the area of Sigmon Road, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a news release.

When deputies arrived, they observed multiple individuals involved in an argument. As deputies worked to separate the individuals parties and determine what had occurred, they learned that one of the individuals involved, identified as Chadrick Ty-Quan McGee, was in possession of a firearm, the sheriff said.
Further investigation revealed that McGee, 30, of Partnership Way, Statesville, is a convicted felon and is prohibited by N.C. law from possessing a firearm. Deputies also discovered that the firearm had been reported stolen, the sheriff said.
McGee was taken into custody without incident and charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony possession of a stolen firearm. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was brought before a magistrate and issued a $55,000 secured bond.
According to the ICSO, McGee’s criminal history includes the following charges: misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of misdemeanor larceny, felony sell marijuana, felony obtain property by false pretense, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, six counts of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor communicating threats, felony sell or deliver schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor shoplifting, misdemeanor child abuse, two counts of misdemeanor assault on a female, felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor second- degree trespass, and misdemeanor resisting a public officer
