A Woodleaf man faces drug charges after being stopped on Wilkesboro Highway by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Todd Rupard

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Todd Junior Rupard, 47, of Potneck Road, Woodleaf, in a news release.

ICSO Deputy D. Epling stopped an SUV on Tuesday, March 17, Campbell said. As Deputy Epling was speaking with Rupard, he learned that Rupard’s license had been revoked and he was operating a vehicle without liability insurance, according to the news release. Deputy Raper arrived on scene to assist on the traffic stop.

Deputies searched the vehicle and located drug paraphernalia. Deputy Raper also discovered a bag containing a powdery substance, which Rupard identified as fentanyl, the sheriff said.

Rupard was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. He was charged with Felony Possession of Fentanyl, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While License Revoked.

Magistrate Thompson found probable cause for all charges. Due to Rupard already being out on bond for unrelated charges in another jurisdiction, he was issued no bond, Campbell said.
