Statesville Fire Department personnel were alerted for a structure fire on Salisbury Road at 8:41 p.m. on Saturday. Statesville Engine 3 was first on scene with heavy smoke showing from the single-story commercial structure. A working fire was transmitted, and crews stretched one hose line and made an aggressive interior attack on the fire as additional crews stretched a second hose line and ventilated the structure. The fire was quickly knocked down and was placed under control at 9:08 p.m. No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation. Salisbury Road was closed in both directions while crews operated at the scene.
