A Statesville man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a Bobcat compact loader from a construction site following an investigation by the Troutman Police Department.

The TPD announced the arrest of Justin Wilson, 40, of Phillips Lane, Statesville, in a news release.

Detectives opened an investigation on November 3 after receiving a report that the compact loader had been stolen from a construction site located at 750 S. Main Street in Troutman, according to the news release.

As a result of evidence and statements obtained during the investigation, detectives identified Wilson as the suspect. A warrant was obtained for Wilson’s arrest. He was taken into custody on February 9 by Statesville police officers.

Wilson was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and ordered held on a $25,000 secured bond.

“We understand that crimes like this impact local businesses and our community,” the TPD said in the news release. “We remain committed to holding offenders accountable and protecting the property of our residents and business owners.”

The TPD expressed its gratitude to the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Statesville Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
