Veteran fire investigator Kevin Aube has been appointed Iredell County fire marshal.

Aube, who has nearly two decades of fire service experience, advanced investigative credentials, and a proven record of leadership in fire prevention and emergency response, has served as assistant fire marshal for Mooresville Fire & Rescue since 2021. He previously worked with Cabarrus County Emergency Services, the City of Kannapolis Fire Department, and Rowan County Emergency Services.

“Kevin’s depth of experience, professionalism, and commitment to community safety make him an exceptional choice for Fire Marshal,” Director of Public Safety Daryl Conley said. “His investigative expertise and leadership in fire prevention will greatly benefit our county as we continue to enhance our fire and life safety programs.”

Aube’s career includes 115 fire investigations, extensive training through the National Fire Academy, and multiple state and national certifications in fire investigation, fire prevention, hazardous materials, emergency medical response, and incident management.

He earned an associate degree in fire protection technology from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and maintains advanced credentials, including IAAI Certified Fire Investigator, IAAI Evidence Collection Technician, N.C. Certified Fire Investigator, and N.C. Fire Prevention Inspector Level III. He is also a contract instructor for the National Fire Academy and an active member of several professional fire service organizations.

In his new role, Aube will oversee fire code enforcement, fire investigations, life safety education, and development review, working closely with local fire departments, businesses, and community partners to strengthen public safety across the county.

Aube will be stepping into the role previously held by Iredell County Fire Marshal David Souther, who retired on January 30 after more than 20 years of service to the County.
