Mr. Michael Todd Turner, affectionately called “Sam,” of 226 Deaton Street, Statesville, N.C., was born on March 13, 1970, and was the son of Elizabeth Ann Turner Peck and John Wesley Torrence. He departed this life unedpectedly on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at his home.

Sam attended West Iredell High School and was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his mother, Elizabeth Ann Turner Peck of the home; his children, Tashombe Smith of Statesville and Jacolby Lowe of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Ronald (Sonya) Turner and Howard Hurtt, both of Statesville; his sisters, Pamela Turner and Sheila Dobbins, both of Statesville; step sisters, Freda Poster and Pud Poster; six grandchildren, Jaquavia Lowe, Sammaria Lowe, Demarien Moten, Jacobi Lowe Jr., Nova Lowe and Jaycee Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy Bates will officiate and burial will follow in the New Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Members of the family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
