
Agnes White Wooten, 88, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, surrounded by her three daughters and husband of 65 years, Bobby.
Agnes was born October 19, 1937, in Iredell County to the late Claude White and Lucy Jurney White. Agnes was a lifelong educator, teaching first grade in Forsyth and Iredell counties. She retired after 30 years, spending the last 20 years teaching first grade at Harmony Elementary School. She married the love of her life, Robert Wooten, on December 19, 1959. Agnes cherished her family, church family, and especially her grand and great-grandchildren. Agnes was an avid reader and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Hazel White, and brother Thomas White.
She is survived by her husband Bobby and daughters, Lynne Harner (Jim) and Amy Goodman (Brett), and Marigail Creasy. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Sarah (Darin), Austin (Bethany), Mackenzie (Jack), Ian, Isaac (Rachel), and Thomas; and her great-grandchildren Claire and Emma.
The family would especially like to thank Agnes’ caregivers, who became part of the family over the last year, and also the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
Agnes lived a long and fulfilling life, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her and the young lives she touched in the classroom. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and cherished memories.
Family and friends will gather in the fellowship hall at Union Grove United Methodist church from 2 to 3 p.m. on Friday, November 21, with a graveside service to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
