Mrs. Allene McCubbins Cartner, 94, of Cleveland, N.C., went home be with to the Lord on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, after a stay at the Laurels. She was born April 23, 1931, to the late Archie “Mack” McCubbins and Nora Pearl McCubbins.

Allene graduated from Cleveland in 1949. She married Boyden Crawford Cartner in 1949, and was a life-long member of the South River Methodist Church. She volunteered at the church food pantry and Rowan helping ministries. She worked at Arco Engineering and Rowan memorial hospital. She did crafts and decorated anything and everything

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Boyden Cartner; and sisters Edith Cauble. Helen Lyerly, and Mary Emma Fleming.

She is survived by her daughter Vicki Cartner; sisters Nell Thompson and Willie Kate Walkup; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Allene will be held Monday, June 2, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at South River Church, 2880 S River Church Road, Woodleaf, NC 27054. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 2, 2025, from 12 to 1 p.m. at 2880 S River Church Road, Woodleaf, N.C.
