Bart Lee Millsaps, 65, of Statesville, N.C., a cherished individual known for his warm and welcoming spirit, passed away on June 28, 2025, at his residence after a brief illness. He was born on September 11, 1959, in Iredell County, N.C. Bart’s journey through life took him to many places, including Florida and North Dakota, before he settled into his community.

After graduating high school, Bart became devoted to truck driving. As a dedicated truck driver, Bart embodied the essence of a people person; he never met a stranger and had the remarkable ability to connect with everyone he encountered. He loved getting together with his friends and the time spent with them. His personality was as vibrant as the landscapes he loved to explore, especially the mountains, which he cherished while camping and gathering around campfires. Bart had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life, often reminiscing about the old classic television shows from the 1960s and 70s that filled his evenings with laughter and nostalgia. He was of the Baptist faith, drawing strength and comfort from his beliefs.

Bart leaves behind a loving family, including his father, Vaughan Millsaps; his sister, Vickie Millsaps; and his son, Dustin Lee Millsaps. He took great pride in being a grandfather to two grandchildren, Paxton Dishman and Tristan Millsaps, who brought joy and love into his life.

Bart was preceded in death by his mother, Katrina “Katie” Barkley Millsaps, whose memory will continue to reside in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The funeral service to celebrate Bart’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel in Statesville with Dr. Andy Lackey officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. His legacy as a loving father, brother, son, and friend will forever be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Nicholson Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
