Brian “BJ” Andrew Just, 47, of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly of Buffalo, N.Y, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Born in Buffalo, BJ carried his hometown pride wherever he went—especially when cheering on his beloved Buffalo Bills and Sabres. He formed deep and meaningful friendships that reflected his warmth and sincerity, and he built a life defined by generosity, intelligence, and genuine care for others.

BJ was a proud alumnus of Trine University (formerly Tri-State University), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Facilities Engineering in 2001 and was a member of the Men’s Volleyball Team.

As a dedicated facilities engineer, BJ took great pride in his work and approached every challenge with passion and precision. Outside of work, he found joy in cooking, hosting friends, and spending time on Lake Norman boating or jet skiing. He had a talent for backyard projects and took pride in creating welcoming spaces for those he loved.

BJ is survived by his son, Asher Paul Just; his sister, Sarah (Bill) Scibetta; his brother, Matthew (Katie) Just; and many dear friends who became family. He will be lovingly remembered by his niece, Hailey Just, and his nephews, Lucas Just, Ryan Scibetta, Adam Scibetta, and Daniel Scibetta. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Paul and Marilyn Just.

A celebration of BJ’s life will be held at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, 494 East Plaza Drive, Mooresville, NC 28115 on Saturday November 15, 2025, at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial GoFundMe fundraiser is in the process of being established to help support BJ’s son, Asher Paul Just, with details to follow.
