Carol Sue Scott, 76, of Charlotte, N.C., and formerly of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away on October 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, passion, and spirited determination. Born on March 12, 1949, in Detroit, Mich., Carol lived a vibrant life filled with diverse experiences and an unwavering commitment to those she loved and the community she served.

Carol’s life was a tapestry of varied roles, each reflecting her boundless energy and caring nature. It was alongside her beloved husband, Joe Scott, that Carol truly found her calling. Together, they opened Scotz BBQ in Taylorsville, a local gem that became a testament to Carol’s passion for bringing people together through food, hospitality, and her larger-than-life personality. The restaurant was more than a business—it was a reflection of Carol’s heart, where every plate served was infused with her love for connection and community.

Known for her spirited and passionate nature, Carol lived life with gusto. Her laughter was contagious, her kindness boundless, and her ability to make everyone feel like family was unmatched. She leaves behind a community enriched by her presence and a family who will forever cherish her vibrant spirit.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Snyder Sr. and Gertrude Gautier Snyder; her husband, Joseph Anthony Scott; and a brother, Bobby Smith.

Those left to cherish and honor Carol’s memories include her daughter, Melissa Baker (Tracy) of Taylorsville; her sons, Denny Fritz Jr. (Carol) of Taylorsville, Greg “Pooh” Fritz (Sherry) of Hiddenite, and Scott Fritz of Charlotte; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Snyder Jr. (Susie); and a number of other family members and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. James Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers include Denny Fritz, Greg Fritz, Brandon Fritz, Josh Riley, Aidan Pope, and Daniel Roache. Honorary pallbearers include Eddie Hollar and Brian Lackey.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
