Charles Alexander McPherson Jr., 93, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the VA Medical Center Hospice Unit.

A proud veteran, Charlie dedicated 30 years of his life to the United States Army, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. His service included two tours in Vietnam, during which he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery. He played a unique role in history, assisting Elvis Presley in his transition to becoming a true Army veteran, ensuring that the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll found his footing in that significant chapter of life.

Charlie was a devout member of the United Church of God in Charlotte, where he enjoyed participating in fellowships and forming lasting friendships. A sports enthusiast, he derived great joy from watching baseball and football, and he cherished the adventure of going on cruises.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel; and brother, Robert.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Eva Oliver McPherson; daughters, Theresa Corbin (Alan) and Kimberly Overcash (Larry); sister, Carolyn Lee; brother, Johnny Sidusky; grandchildren, Amber Corbin, Cody Corbin, and Macy Overcash; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a service following at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Preston officiating. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Salisbury National Cemetery.
