
Clarence Luico Poole, 91, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Friday evening, October 31, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House.
Clarence was born March 10, 1934, in Davie County, N.C., to the late Early Duke Poole and Ethel Wilson Poole. He was a graduate of Harmony High School and served our country honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He was married to Antha Bost Poole, who preceded him in death in 2009. He was the retired owner and operator of Holland Transfer & Distribution Center. He was active in church and civic activities, being a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and usher. He was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and was active with the Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief Efforts and the White Christmas Mission program. He was a past board member of Iredell Memorial Hospital and a faithful volunteer with the Gordon Hospice House for many years.
He is survived by a daughter, Terica “Terri” Baker (Mark), and son, Marc Poole (Rhonda), both of Statesville; two grandsons, Jacob Mitchell and Jared Mitchell (Alyssa); and two greatgrandchildren, Ty Basenback and Jaxon Mitchell. He is further survived by his two sisters, Mildred Laney of Concord, N.C., and Ruby Harris of Indian Trail, N.C., and special friend, Jo Corriher of Mt. Ulla, N.C.
Services to celebrate the life of Clarence Poole will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at First Baptist Church and will be officiated by Rev. Nelson Gernade. The family will visit with friends in Adams Hall at the church following the services. Private burial in Oakwood Cemetery will precede the funeral hour.
