Clarence “Chuck” Vernon Comer Jr., 62, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vicky Stroud Comer, grandson Damien Briceno, daughter Samantha Houston (Ryan), sister Linda Bledsoe (Mark), niece Sarah Jackson (David), nephew John Bledsoe, and great nephew Cameron Jackson. His best friends Ray and Kim Birdsong were considered family by love.

Born on August 5, 1963, to the late Clarence and Sallie Comer, he graduated from North Iredell High School in 1981 and married his high school sweetheart Vicky in March 1982. He farmed for many years and then moved with Vicky and Samantha to St. Louis and California, supporting Vicky’s career across the country, and then back home to Statesville. He was a truck driver for Tyson Foods in Harmony and retired after 17 years.

Chuck held a very special place in his heart for Damien, always encouraging him to do his best with everything he did, be respectful and work hard to achieve his goals in life. They worked, laughed, joked, and bonded with each other like a father and son. Damien called Paw his best friend who was always there for him and taught him so many life lessons that helped him become the person he is today.

Chuck’s relationship with his sister was one of a kind. They were always there for each other, joking, laughing, and sharing a cup of coffee on a regular basis.

Damien and Vicky would like to thank family and friends who have helped and supported them during the many years of Chuck’s health issues. The love, support, and kindness helped them through many difficult times, and they are forever grateful.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Union Grove United Methodist Church, Friendship Hall Project, PO Box 55, Union Grove, NC 28689.
